After the Phobos 24, the Polish shipyard Dalpol, which specialises in small cruisers, is launching the Phobos 24.5, which is 25 centimetres longer and two centimetres wider. The seven-and-a-half metre long cruiser is a space miracle below deck that is unrivalled in its segment. The Phobos is equipped with sleeping space for eight people, a galley, an oil locker, 1.65 metres of headroom and a separate wet room.
The standard version of the Phobos 24.5 has a centreboard and internal ballast - a fixed keel is just one of the options offered by the shipyard. The 24-footer also has plenty of space in the cockpit, but it could be cramped for the planned eight crew members. The test of the new Phobos 24.5 showed just how big a compromise has to be made in terms of sailing characteristics for the generous extension and space below deck.
